CULINARY ARTS PROGRAM

Chef Randle is the driving force of our culinary arts program at MRSS. Students learn the essentials of food preparation and qualify for their FoodSafe Certification

Opportunities abound for our culinary arts students including:

participation programs such as:

  • MRSS Community Dinners
  • Take a Bite of BC
  • Healthy Food Show
  • BC Fruit and Vegetable programs

competitions such as:

  • North Surrey Gingerbread Competition
  • District No. 42 Chowder Competition

Our culinary arts program has also been featured a number of times on Global TV's Saturday morning chef series as well as CityTV's Breakfast Television show.

COMMUNITY DINNERS

Our weekly community dinners originally started out as dinner for seniors, however, it soon became apparent that there was interest from within our community as a whole. Every Thursday evening Chef Randle and members of our culinary arts program prepare a delicious two course buffet style dinner. While dinner is set up buffet style, assistance is available for people with mobility challenges. Our HOPE Committee students are on hand to help make your dining experience as pleasant and comfortable as possible.

Typically the menu features a multitude of salads and vegetable entries, as well as pasta, vegetarian and meat entrees and a carving station. For dessert there are always a couple options such as trifle, fruit crumble, tiramisu, jello and ice cream to name a few. Doors open at 4:30pm and the buffet is open from 5:00-6:00pm. Reservations are required and are easily made by calling the school at 604.463.4175. You can dine-in or order a take-out meal and gift certificates are now available too!

The cost of dine-in dinner is: $9.50 adults, $8.50 Seniors, $4.50 Children under 10. Take out options are: $7.50 for dinner only or $8.00 for dinner and dessert.

The menu changes weekly and is posted on our website and on noticeboards throughout our community. Click on this link to see what's cooking for the next dinner: Community Dinner Menu
