Student Transfers
Grade 7 students and their parents, wishing to transfer schools need to complete a transfer form at the secondary school where they are enrolled. A transfer form can be obtained from the school office and needs to be completed by a parent or guardian and returned to the school office. For grade 7’s only, a review of transfer requests will be determined on May 19, 2011. Students will be advised prior to the grade 7 full day visit on May 25th if their transfer request was approved.

Grade 7 Full Day Visit - May 25, 2011
On Wednesday, May 25, grade 7 students will come to MRSS for a full day to experience a day at secondary school. We will deliver your temporary timetable to your elementary school the week before. Remember that you won’t be assigned lockers so you will have to carry items from class to class.
Plan to arrive at the school between 8:00 - 8:20 with your timetable and map. Take the opportunity to find your classrooms before the day gets underway.
You will need to bring the timetable you were given, a snack, a notebook, pen & pencil and gym strip if PE is on your timetable.
The day starts with an assembly in the main gym at 8:30. After the assembly you will attend classes on the timetable we have given you. Attendance will be taken in each class and followed up in the usual manner so if you are going to be away, please make sure to advise the school.
We will have a free barbeque at lunch for you or you can bring your own lunch if you choose. Your day will end between 2:00-2:15pm. Make sure to have made pick up arrangements with your parents beforehand.
It’s going to be a fun day for you and hopefully you’ll feel more confident about starting secondary school after spending the day here.

Grade 8 Orientation Morning, Thursday, September 1st 10:00-11:30 a.m.
Although students are just finishing off their summer break on this date, we are asking our incoming grade 8 students to attend this event. We have planned this morning event specially with our new grade 8 students in mind. We start the morning with an assembly in the main gymnasium. Following the assembly we will meet in homeroom groups where students will be assigned lockers, have their student photo taken, pay student fees, purchase locks (if required) and participate in orientation activities to help familiarize them with the school.
Students will be given their timetable toward the end of the morning and are welcome and encouraged to spend some time finding their classrooms once we are done. We will finish up the morning with a hot dog barbeque at 11:30 a.m.
Things to consider:
Plan to arrive around 9:45 a.m. and make your way to our main gym
Bring a cheque (payable to MRSS) or cash for student fees: - $28 single or $50 two or more students. - Locks are an additional $5 each (you will need two locks)
Dress comfortably but appropriately for school
Make transportation arrangements in advance

School Supplies
At MRSS we do not put out a list of school supplies for students. The essentials such as a binder filled with lined paper, subject dividers, pencils, pens, a ruler, highlighters, pencil crayons and a scientific calculator are the staples of school life and can be reused from previous years or purchased new - it's up to you!
